Rule of thirds is a way of capturing a picture with its emphasis laying on a grid assessable on the camera. The subject is not only laying on the grid, but it is off centered. This compositional trick makes it so the subject is not in the center of the photo, and so that the photo possesses more personality. I used the rule of the thirds by placing my partner off to the left of my photo creating the illusion that she is gazing sadly out to an unknown object at which we cannot see. Not placing her in the center strengthens my emphasis on which the eye is attracted to.

Compositional trick #1: Rule of Thirds
