The Scream: My Interpretation

In the photograph, “The Scream,” I believe that the artist is trying to convey a generalization of how humans feel about death. In the picture the subject is painted in a very abstract way, at the same time it is evident that it is a human. The background is mostly painted with dark melancholy colors creating the tone of sadness. Then in the very corner of the picture is a dark shadow-like figure standing, representing death. The subject not only realizes that this is death but it is evident by their facial expression that they are in fear. This picture, in turn, displays how people greatly fear death not only in the time that the picture was created, but now in present time.
